Lighting & Rendering

Should reduce the reflectivity of the timetable.
And the light condition outside the train station is too dark.
And shadows are weird.

I give a bright directional light from the left behind the wall.
Yet the over brightness washes out the texture =(

Final version of this shot =)

Lighting & Rendering

The sky color is too sharp. It doesn't match the mood =P
And the train is too reflective, which makes the background hard to fit with the 2D characters.

There's a weird shadow at the train's head.
And the colour of each objects don't seem to under the coherent light condition.

We all like this one most for this shot.

Colour Sheets

Colour reference sheets for the Old Lady or "Ollie" and the Pigeon.

Texture Samples

I've found the reference textures. I am going to do some image processing for the textures. These textures can't be used directly as they are too realistic, but these help me to have a clear mind what textures should go to which models.

Quick Pigeon Ref

A wee model sheet for the pigeon, will expand upon later. Colours are not set, will probably do away with the purple gradient effect.

Camera Angles

Here are all of the camera angles that will be used in our animation. Reeby printed them out for 2D animating work.

It's a great idea that Andy remind us - making grids on the platform floor so as to have a better sense where the characters should go, during animating.

Background Modeling

I've modeled some houses and hills outside the train station.

And some more different sets of arches.

Modeling - Scale

Here is the layout of the train station.

Brown: Train
Red: Wall
Yellow: Train station cover and wall
Purple: Platform

I doubt if I got the scale of everything alright. To have a clear concept, the grey cylinder on the platform indicate the height of the main character.

Update:

- Make the roof bigger and higher
- Make the arches slightly higher
- Make the station wider
- Remove some archways
- Remove some seats

Sketches of the train station.

Rush Hour Animatic

Here's our animatic. Currently it is a little bit too long, by about 5 seconds, and needs sound. The background is going to be modelled in Maya, but the people and the pigeons are all going to be hand drawn.

Storyboard

Just to make things complete, here is our finished storyboard. Just the shot who shows the closing door from the train has changed.
