Camera Angles

Here are all of the camera angles that will be used in our animation. Reeby printed them out for 2D animating work.

It's a great idea that Andy remind us - making grids on the platform floor so as to have a better sense where the characters should go, during animating.

Background Modeling

I've modeled some houses and hills outside the train station.

And some more different sets of arches.

Modeling - Scale

Here is the layout of the train station.

Brown: Train
Red: Wall
Yellow: Train station cover and wall
Purple: Platform

I doubt if I got the scale of everything alright. To have a clear concept, the grey cylinder on the platform indicate the height of the main character.

Update:

- Make the roof bigger and higher
- Make the arches slightly higher
- Make the station wider
- Remove some archways
- Remove some seats

Sketches of the train station.

Rush Hour Animatic

Here's our animatic. Currently it is a little bit too long, by about 5 seconds, and needs sound. The background is going to be modelled in Maya, but the people and the pigeons are all going to be hand drawn.

Storyboard

Just to make things complete, here is our finished storyboard. Just the shot who shows the closing door from the train has changed.

Sketches - Characters & Props

Everyone is down as concept artist. Here are some of my sketches for the character designs & props designs.

I will be responsible for the 3D background and compositing.

Concept Sketches

At the start we weren't sure what age or gender the character should be.

Ollie has had such a strange life. She's been a crippled young boy, has temporarily been transformed into an anthropomorphic owl, worshipped by pigeons and currently is just a boring old lady with a stick.

However, rumours have it her next incarnation might have something to do with the Hulk.

We believe her cousin was a floursack. Do you see the resemblance?

The train is now the offspring of retro and modern train designs.

Some quick station concepts.
